Greeting
__ and __, we are honored to be witness to the loving union of two people
who have found in each other all that they desire. You are soul mates united. And
now before friends and family, you are ready to declare your intention to live together
in marriage. Ladies and gentlemen, standing before you are two people who are committed
to the hopes and dreams they share today and to those days that are to come. Together
and as individuals, they will create a marriage where they are equal partners, partners
who are willing to give as well as receive; speak as well as listen; act as well
as be still. They have faced adversity alone and together and stand here today stronger
and more committed and more in love than ever.
The words, which shall unite __ and __ in holy matrimony, have been chosen carefully and with thoughtful awareness to reflect the love they have for each other and the promises they have made to one another for the future. Marriage is an honorable estate, created and instituted by our Creator. May this marriage be blessed with a true and abiding love that is pure and giving, a love that endures and conquer all adversity.
Vows Including Rings Exchange
__, will you have this woman / man to be your lawfully
wedded wife / husband, to live together in marriage? Will you love, comfort and honor
her/ him, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, so long as you both shall
live?
Then repeat after me: I give you this ring as a symbol of your vows, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, with this ring I thee wed.
The Blessing of the Rings
The wedding ring is the outward and visible sign of an
inward and spiritual bond that unites two loyal hearts in unconditional love. The
rings seal the vows __ and __have taken. Bless these rings that they, who give them
and who wear them, may ever abide in thy peace and live together in unity, love and
happiness for the rest of their lives.
Prayer
O Lord, We are filled with such joy on __ and __’s wedding day. As they stand
here today pledging their hearts and lives to each other, we ask that they may be
true and loving, and that they may live together in such a way as never to bring
shame or heartbreak into their marriage. We ask that their hearts be tempered with
kindness and understanding and be rid of all pretence or jealousy. We ask them to
remember to be each other's lover, confidant, friend and partner and support each
other in adversity and prosperity, sorrow and joy. May the home they create be a
place of love and harmony where they share in the passion and spirit of life, exercise
compassion and understanding, and know patience and tolerance. May they walk with
love and happiness in their hearts. We offer this prayer in your name.
Pronouncement
In as much as you have each pledged to the other your lifelong commitment,
love and devotion, I now pronounce you husband and wife in the name of the Father,
the Son and the Holy Spirit. Those whom God has joined let no one put asunder.
